The Worship Book of the Bible: Psalms

Are you aware that the songbook of the Bible is the book of Psalms? Do you know how many chapters in Psalms? 150! Have you ever read through the Psalms? If you haven’t I would encourage you to start the journey – you won’t be disappointed. The Psalms are not boring, but may be to those who haven’t read it. Why, just today I found myself reading through Psalm 31-37. These are some of the great verses that spoke volumes to me. I share one from each chapter:

Psalm 31:15 – My times are in Your hand;

Psalm 32:7 – You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. (Selah – a musical pause).

Psalm 33:6 – By the Word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the hosts of them by the breath of His mouth.

Psalm 34:7 – The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.

Psalm 35:9 – And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD; it shall rejoice in His Salvation.

Psalm 36:9 – For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.

Psalm 37:5 – Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

Didn’t I tell you that God’s Word speaks!!! These are some great thoughts for anyone to meditate upon, to dwell, and to think of God’s promises. Yes, I would encourage you to read through this songbook of the Old Testament. There just may be a song tucked away somewhere in one of its 150 chapters that you just might need.

Well, I would like to conclude this post with a poem that I came across that is also powerful. I trust that it will challenge you and bless you. It is called: The Clock

The clock of life is wound but once,

And no man has the power

To tell just when the hands will stop

At late or early hour.

To lose one’s wealth is sad indeed,

To lose one’s health is more.

To lose one’s soul is such a loss

That no one can restore.
